Why flat roofs fail, and how to stop it
Water that cannot get away
Flat roofs are never quite flat. A roof without a proper fall holds water, and standing water finds every weakness. We check the falls and correct them before re-covering.
The edges, not the middle
Most leaks on flat roofs come from where the roof meets a wall, a window or a gutter. A good covering is only as good as its upstands, trims and flashings.
Why EPDM
EPDM is laid as a single sheet with few or no joints, which removes the most common failure point of older felt roofs.

Can you go over my old felt?
Sometimes, but usually we strip it so we can check the deck underneath.
Is EPDM noisy in rain?
No more than felt. It is bonded to the deck.
